Nick Saban is the head football coach at the University of Alabama. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 28, 1966. In 1991, he became the wide receivers coach for the NFL's Cleveland Browns. He moved to the University of Toledo in 1993 as offensive coordinator and on to Michigan State University as offensive coordinator prior to moving to Alabama in 1999 as offensive coordinator. Saban began his head coaching career by taking over for Bob Pruett on December 3, 2000 at Toledo where he won his first game as a head coach against Bowling Green on December 10, 2000 by a score of 24–17.
Saban led Toledo to an undefeated season and won the MAC championship with a victory over Eastern Michigan University on November 17, 2001 by a score of 33–26. Saban moved back to Alabama in 2002 as offensive coordinator under Dennis Franchione. After Franchione was fired prior to the 2004 season, Saban was promoted to head coach of the Crimson Tide where he has led them to two National Championships (in 2011 and 2015).
